Earlier this year, I heard about a membership site called Wealthy Affiliate (WA), it seemed pretty interesting, they offer some pretty neat tools but they also offer what they call profitable keyword lists. Now, of course profitable keyphrases are an affiliate marketer’s biggest asset – so any site that is willing to part with this information is worth at least a second look.
Anyway I’ve belonged to my fair share of membership sites over the years. Some were/are great while others wound up being pretty disappointing. My New Years resolution for 2007 was to NOT join “every fricken thing I see”, as I usually join these things then forget about them and wind up paying the monthly fees for way longer then I should before finally canceling my membership. Anyway, I kept “virtually” bumping into WA so I finally joined last week…

So what is Wealthy Affiliate All about?

Well, as it’s name implies WA is designed to help would-be affiliate marketers make money and yes… become wealthy. To that end there are a tremendous amount of resources dedicated to finding profitable niches and then finding profitable keyphrases within those niches. While some SEO is covered, the site offers some excellent tools and insight into building successful PPC campaigns. I learned quite a bit in my first hour as a member about how to properly structure a PPC campaign to get the most traffic for the least amount of money. Lot’s of great insight there that I had never heard of before.

Another thing to consider is that with WA, it’s NOT required that you have a website. If you’re just getting started you can join WA, use their tools and resources AND start making money without doing any website building and without needing any type of web hosting. How? Well, among the resources that WA supplies are optimized landing pages, hosted by WA, that you can send PPC traffic to.

What you’re actually getting when you join…
The training section or Learning Resources as they call it, is organized into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced areas, each section has a selection of tutorials –short write-ups that cover a specific task, courses – longer training documents that will require a bit more time to complete and a downloads section – in downloads you’ll find templates for web and Landing pages. Lastly, they offer a selection of videos to help with things like setting up your adwords account and their “Common Keyword Technique”

The Research Center has some very cool tools for doing keyword research. One tool allows you to see, at a glance who your Google Adwords competition will be and what they’re doing. Another tool allows you to combine two different keyword lists to create new more targeted keyphrases – this is very cool if you want to add city names to your keyphrases. Other tools combine data from Yahoo and Google to make new keyword suggestions. Lot’s of good stuff here, but most of it is available elsewhere (although you’ll probably have to pay for it).

One very unique tool is the “Clickbank Research Tool”. This tool is designed to help you find Clickbank products to promote – you can see what’s hot and what’s not, what products are on their way up and which ones are on their way down. At a glance you can see what your commission for each product will be and what the projected return rate will be. This is great information that will save you not only time but money.

So What’s the real value of Wealthy Affiliate?
The Support and the community! With Wealthy Affiliate you get all the hand holding you need. The partners will go so far as to personally review your adwords campaign to ensure that you’re not over-spending and that your campaigns are focused enough. You also have access to the forum –this is usually the most important part of any membership site – and WA is no exception. The forum is extremely active, with the partners and some senior members helping out the newbies with some astonishing insights. I’ve reviewed several of their “sticky” threads and I can tell you, the information is priceless. You’re essentially getting a crash course in affiliate marketing by real affiliates who have proven money making track records.

So how much does all of this cost?
As of this writing (March 2007), the monthly fee is a mere $29.99 per month. That fee includes all of the tools mentioned above; plus the hand-holding and the forum. You’ll also get the keyword lists for quite a few niches along with recommend products to promote using those lists. I fully recommend this site whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned affiliate marketer. There’s always more to learn and being a member of an active forum is a great way to keep up with what’s new in our industry.
