I’ve been telling you about Wealthy Affiliate for a couple of months now. One of the best things about the site is the “hand-holding” you get from the owners.

So anyway here’s my story… I started in a new niche back in mid-June. I did my usual tons of keyword research, to find some profitable low competition keyphrases. I crafted an Adwords ad to get maximum click-thru’s (doing A/B tests until I reached my personal best click-thru rate). And of course I built a landing page…

Well after about a week of playing around I had accumulated a little over 100 clicks. I received three sign-ups to my newsletter but sales were a big fat ZERO!

So, I sent a pm to Carson, asking him to take a look at my Adwords campaign and my landing page –After about 24 hours he responded.

Carson told me in no uncertain terms – my landing page really sucked (Okay he was a bit more diplomatic but that’s basically what he meant). My problem was that I had spent so much time working on my keywords and trying to get the Google part of it right that I had neglected my landing page. Carson showed me how my landing page was not relevant enough to my keyphrases. So when my visitors were hitting the page, they simply weren’t seeing what they were looking for.

Carson then pointed me toward some of the training guides available to Wealthy Affiliate Members:

Landing page optimization – A five lesson tutorial that shows you exactly how to build the perfect landing page.
Landing page components – A quick tutorial on the “Must Have” features on a landing page.
Customer purchase lifecycle – A great tutorial about how visitors become customers and the steps involved in making a sale. This is a very cool tutorial because it puts you in the mindset of your visitor and shows you how most keywords that people buy using PPC’s will probably never result in a sale.

Well, I have some more work to do on my landing page… Hope Carson appreciates what he put me through!
