Blog Marketing
So, you want to be a blog marketer? Well the first question you need to ask yourself is …Why?
You see, to be a successful blogger you need to have an opinion, you need to be outspoken and you need to be able to report on your niche with honesty. Now all that can be tough. Especially for those of us who “cut our teeth” on the high pressure sales pages that they use to sell ebooks. Some of those pages may be on blogs but that ‘aint blogging!
My point here is simple and it’s as clear as mud: a blogger must have a blog but a blog doesn’t always have a blogger!
Moving on… Blog marketing is a much more subtle form of marketing. It shouldn’t be “in you face” selling. The marketing part should come out of the content. Post about what you know and use and give some good examples of how you benefit from that product or service and of course, add your affiliate link to the post. Just don’t copy and paste the sales material from the affiliate site – your readers can see right through that.
Believe me, this is much easier said then done, especially when you have bills to pay. But I’m convinced that in the long run, this more subtle approach will pay off, your readers will be more likely to buy through your affiliate links if they don’t feel like they’re always being hit over the head with some new offer.
To that end, I recently reorganized this site. All of my product reviews (and I do use the products I recommend!) are now on a sub domain. This allows me to keep my content more focused and gives you a better idea when something is a post about internet marketing as opposed to being a pitch to buy an internet marketing related product.
