The next generation of the World Wide Web has come and it has been a part of our world for the last year. What is this next generation? This next generation is the one that brings the web to your cell phone or PDA. You might say that you have been able to access the Internet from your cell phone for some time now. Yet what you have had access to has not been the Internet that we have come to know and love on our home/office computers.
There have been new advances in the way computer code is written and how web pages are written that make a regular web site viewable on a cell phone or PDA. This is, in fact, changing the way we see and get our information compared to how we had received it in the past. With the ability to convert a web site into a mobile web site, you make it possible for anyone with a cell phone or PDA access to all the information contained on the Internet.
No longer will you have to wait till you get home to browse something to get information you need. You can now browse the web to find the information you need at any moment. Imagine being able to get the information on a big screen TV without having to wait on a sales person. Then, while you are standing in line, you could be booking a table for dinner and theater tickets for after dinner.
The day is here when everything is at your fingertips and waiting for you to access it whenever you need it. There are several ways to take advantage of this new frontier. The first is by subscribing to a cell phone service that has access to mobile web sites. If you have a web site and you would like to make it a mobile web site, there are a couple of things that you will need to do.
The first is to purchase a .mobi domain name that matches you current web site name. If you have ‘mysite.com’ you would want to purchase ‘mysite.mobi’. Then you will want to look up the W3C and check out the new working paper of proposed standards for mobile web sites. This will tell you how to convert your current web site into a mobile web site. This is something that is recommended over starting a whole new web site because you already have a ranking and a loyal following. By adding a mobile version of your current site, you give your visitors a new way to access your site and your products or services.
